Unity Vector after the announcement: ROAS workflows that actually shipped
Analysis
By UA Ledger staff — 2 min read

Product pages and Unity Ads posts document Vector-powered ROAS types, D28 horizons and simplified onboarding—not a buyer’s own CPI or ROAS.
When Unity introduced Vector at GDC 2025, buyers mainly had a migration story and performance promises. Current Unity product and Ads blog pages describe a concrete ROAS workflow set under Vector: Ad Revenue, IAP and Hybrid ROAS, plus D28 horizons and a simplified onboarding path that no longer requires a CPI ramp first. That is what “shipped” in vendor documentation. It is not an independent audit of any studio’s results. Vector product page; March 2026 updates; May 2026 D28 expansion.
Announcement versus documented product
| Buyer-facing claim area | Documented later state (2026) | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| What Vector is | Product page: AI matching / prediction core of Unity Ads UA | Architecture details remain vendor-described |
| Campaign types powered | Ad Revenue ROAS; In-App Purchase ROAS; Hybrid (IAA + IAP) ROAS | Eligibility still depends on data readiness |
| Longer-horizon optimisation | 6 Mar 2026: D28 IAP ROAS + simplified ROAS onboarding with Learning → Live status | Partner case figures are Unity-reported |
| Monetisation coverage | 21 May 2026: D28 Ad Revenue ROAS and D28 Hybrid ROAS complete the D28 suite across IAP / ad / hybrid | Closed-beta uplift figures are Unity-reported |
| Onboarding friction | Direct ROAS launch in the UA dashboard globally; guided data validation; no mandatory CPI ramp called out in the March post | Account-level enablement not observed here |
What a buyer should change in the workflow
Unity’s Vector FAQ lists operational prerequisites: send attributed and unattributed installs, sessions, purchases and ad revenue via the MMP; enable a lifetime in-app event postback window; keep the latest Unity Ads SDK; add the Android licence key. Those are setup facts in Unity’s own guidance, not proof that a title already meets them.
Our recommendation is to map each live Unity Ads campaign to a documented ROAS type and horizon (D7 vs D28; IAP vs ad vs hybrid), confirm MMP postbacks against the checklist, and keep Unity’s partner uplift percentages in a “vendor-reported” column—not in the studio’s source-of-truth performance sheet.
Inspect the evidence
Download the announcement vs observed product table. The extraction separates documented facts from our analysis and unknowns.
| Field | Evidence or limit |
|---|---|
| Earlier record | 2025-03 — Archive piece covered Vector’s GDC introduction and phased migration uncertainty for buyers. |
| Later evidence | 2026-03-06 — D28 IAP ROAS and simplified ROAS onboarding launched in Unity’s Ads blog. |
| Later evidence | 2026-05-21 — D28 Ad Revenue and Hybrid ROAS expand the suite; product page lists all three ROAS types under Vector. |
| Outcome supported | Documented ROAS workflow set under Vector now includes D7/D28 options across IAP, ad revenue and hybrid |
| Still unconfirmed | Studio-specific eligibility, Learning-phase duration, and any CPI/ROAS change versus pre-Vector baselines |
| Next check | Verify ROAS types visible in the acquire dashboard and MMP postback completeness per title |
