Flero Games: make retention criteria survive a multi-channel dashboard

Flero Games' case is useful for a team that values retained players but keeps being pulled towards the easiest install metric in its weekly report.

Flero Games' case is useful for a team that values retained players but keeps being pulled towards the easiest install metric in its weekly report.

What the public case establishes

Adjust describes Flero Games prioritising retention, using cohort reports and sending callback data into an internal warehouse. The public account places fraud prevention alongside the process of choosing and scaling marketing channels. It is a supplier-published description of Flero's decision workflow, not an independent assessment of its player cohorts. Adjust case study.

This debrief analyses a public customer case published by a commercial supplier. It is not an original UA Ledger interview. The chronology below follows the supplier’s account; we did not inspect the advertiser’s dashboards or interview its staff.

The decision worth examining

A retained-player objective needs a stable cohort definition at the point where budget decisions are made. A dashboard can display many useful columns and still encourage the wrong action if the default ranking is installs or early revenue. The operating change is to specify which cohort age and engagement condition qualify a source for expansion before the report arrives.

Separate the reporting view from the action rule. The view can include installs, costs and early activity for diagnosis. The action rule should use a declared maturity window and an explicit quality guardrail. A fast-moving campaign can remain in observation while its cohort matures; uncertainty should not be silently converted into a poor-performance label.

A usable next check

Reconstruct one historical internal review using only data available at that decision time, then apply the agreed cohort-age rule. Note which apparent winners or losers would have remained undecided. This is a proposed exercise for a team's own authorised records. It tests process consistency, not whether Adjust or any particular channel would generate more valuable players.

Download the populated case worksheet. Its control, variant and decision rules are a proposed experiment, not an account of results already measured. Keep the source URL with the worksheet when circulating it so reported findings cannot become unattributed team benchmarks.

Evidence boundary

The public case does not disclose complete campaign exports, a controlled comparison or a universal retention target. Historic descriptions of products and company scale should not be read as verified current operating conditions.

For background, see reading an mmp dashboard without fooling yourself and cohort quality checklist ua spend. These are existing archive discussions, not independent certification of this case. No first-hand campaign result is asserted.
