Google Play Billing Choice scheduled for Japan and South Korea by 31 December 2026

Google’s official Android Developers Blog places Japan and Korea on the Play Billing Choice and fee-separation schedule by 31 December 2026, after Australia’s September milestone.

On Google’s choice-and-openness Android Developers Blog, the rollout line for Play’s expanded billing choice and updated fees places Korea and Japan “By December 31” (2026). That sits after Australia’s 30 September 2026 slot and before the rest-of-world date of 30 September 2027.

The 24 June 2026 expanded-billing post repeats the staggered schedule, describes alternative billing and external web links alongside Play Billing, and states that the billing fee for US/UK/EEA transactions that use Play Billing is 5%, with fee details for other markets still to come.

Why UA finance cares in JP/KR

Japan already has a separate Apple MSCA payment path; this Google schedule is the Android twin for web-shop and alternative-billing economics on Play. Korea sits on the same December line. Neither blog post publishes a Japan- or Korea-specific billing-fee percentage on the pages we opened.

Do not invent industry-average CPI or web-shop uplift for December 2026 JP/KR launches; wait for Google’s market-specific fee card and local payment UX requirements.
