Sensor Tower top-games charts: say whether the rank is revenue or downloads

August 2026 top-10 posts separate IAP revenue leaders from download leaders and exclude third-party Android.
Sensor Tower’s August 2026 top-games post ranks Honor of Kings first by worldwide revenue and ROBLOX first by downloads—two different charts. Global mobile-game consumer spending on the App Store and Google Play is stated as $6.57 billion for the month. August 2026 rankings.
Unit and coverage before “#1”
The post states that third-party Android markets are excluded, and China revenue share is labelled iOS only. A “#1 game” claim that drops whether the chart is revenue or downloads, or that implies China Android coverage, changes the meaning of the rank. Sensor Tower’s broader State of Gaming 2026 release frames mobile revenue as IAP consumer spend, which is still not studio net cash or total monetisation including ads.
Monthly Sensor Tower charts are not a substitute for a matched quarterly panel unless the period is restated. Use them as ranked store estimates for the named month and stores.
UA relevance is limited
Our recommendation is to use ranking extracts for competitive landscape context. Do not infer CPI, creative quality or bid levels from store rank alone.
Inspect the evidence

| Field | Evidence or limit |
|---|---|
| Report / publisher | Top 10 Worldwide Mobile Games — August 2026 / Sensor Tower |
| Period | August 2026 |
| Population | Worldwide mobile games on App Store and Google Play; third-party Android excluded; China revenue iOS only |
| Metric under review | Separate top-10 rankings by consumer spend/revenue and by downloads; monthly market totals $6.57B spend / 3.76B downloads |
| Aggregation | Monthly worldwide store estimates; revenue and downloads ranked separately |
| Critical limit | A #1 label is meaningless without unit (revenue vs downloads) and store coverage; third-party Android and China Android are out of scope. |
| Comparable with | Another Sensor Tower month with the same stores and unit |
| Not comparable with | A UA CPI ranking, ad-revenue leaderboard or China Android-inclusive chart |
