Offerwalls: disclosure, reward and store-policy checks
Analysis

Offerwall UX against AdMob reward disclosure rules and Google Play Families ads-format limits where children are in audience.
Offerwalls sit at the intersection of rewarded-ad policy and store Families rules. Treat them as regulated UX, not a mediation toggle.
AdMob reward side
Policies for ad units that offer rewards: disclose action and reward before each instance; no direct monetary rewards; random rewards need chance disclosure; deliver what was promised; do not imply Google verifies the reward.
Google Play Families side
Google Play Families Policies (Ads and Monetization): when serving children or users of unknown age, use only Families Self-Certified Ads SDKs; no interest-based ads/remarketing to those users; ads must be appropriate and meet Families format requirements. Prohibited formats for that traffic include monetisation not clearly distinguishable from app content, such as offerwalls and other immersive ads experiences, plus disruptive ad walls and interstitials immediately on launch.
Checklist
| Gate | Owner |
|---|---|
| Audience declaration matches actual traffic | Store / compliance |
| Offerwall labelled as advertising for child paths | Product |
| Reward copy matches fulfilment ledger | Economy |
| Mediation SDK on Families certified list (if children) | Engineering |
| Adult-only wall behind verified age gate | Product + legal |
Facts versus limits
| Field | Evidence or limit |
|---|---|
| Offerwalls named in Families format bans | Yes — when not clearly identifiable as ads to child users |
| Universal ban on all adult offerwalls | Not claimed here |
| Cash-out offerwalls via AdMob rewarded | Conflict with no direct monetary rewards |
Stop if the wall is the only monetisation path for a Families-declared build.
