Game District: a profitable country average can hide an unprofitable expansion

Game District's case makes geographic attribution part of budget allocation. The next decision should be about the additional spend being considered, not just a market's historical average.

Game District's case makes geographic attribution part of budget allocation. The next decision should be about the additional spend being considered, not just a market's historical average.

What the public case establishes

Adjust describes Game District wanting cleaner attribution to assess countries and broaden its network portfolio. The account says consolidated reporting and callbacks supported decisions to increase spending on stronger sources and reduce weaker activity. Its results are supplier-reported, without a public country-by-country dataset. Adjust case study.

This debrief analyses a public customer case published by a commercial supplier. It is not an original UA Ledger interview. The chronology below follows the supplier’s account; we did not inspect the advertiser’s dashboards or interview its staff.

The decision worth examining

A country average describes the traffic already acquired under a particular mix of channels, campaigns and bids. It does not automatically price the next tranche of users. Expansion can change that mix, and a previously attractive average can coexist with expensive marginal traffic. The operating question is what evidence supports the next increase, at its proposed scale and conditions.

The worksheet records a market's current spend range, proposed change, cohort maturity and reason for confidence separately from its average ROAS. That keeps a forecast distinguishable from a historical result. It also forces the buyer to specify which campaign or inventory is expected to absorb the additional budget rather than treating a country as a single homogeneous audience.

A usable next check

Before expanding, define a bounded increase and a comparable observation window using the team's authorised data. Track the incremental spend interval separately from the original base. Preserve currency, revenue definition and cohort age. If the added volume has a different source mix, show that explicitly rather than allowing the blended country line to conceal the change.

Download the populated case worksheet. Its control, variant and decision rules are a proposed experiment, not an account of results already measured. Keep the source URL with the worksheet when circulating it so reported findings cannot become unattributed team benchmarks.

Evidence boundary

The source supports a described allocation process, not a causal estimate of geographic expansion or a list of markets to buy today. No private country economics were inspected, and our proposed test has not been run.

For background, see reading an mmp dashboard without fooling yourself and cohort quality checklist ua spend. These are existing archive discussions, not independent certification of this case. No first-hand campaign result is asserted.
