Calculate the additional contribution a localisation pass must recover

A localisation quote should be tied to the additional value it is expected to enable. A reproducible illustrative example with editable inputs and explicit limits.
A localisation quote should be tied to the additional value it is expected to enable. This worksheet combines translation and review costs with contribution per additional purchase. It does not forecast local demand or claim that translated creative necessarily improves acquisition performance.
Define the calculation before using it
Add initial localisation cost to the cost of the planned variant reviews. Divide the total by contribution per additional purchase and round upward. Use additional purchases rather than every purchase from the territory. Separate creative and game localisation when their costs and expected benefits belong to different scopes.
Work through the synthetic example
An initial 1,500-unit cost plus three 200-unit reviews totals 2,100. At seven contribution units per additional purchase, 300 extra purchases would recover it. This creates a concrete measurement question: which evidence could distinguish purchases enabled by the localisation from purchases merely attributed to the same campaign?
| Output | Worked-example result |
|---|---|
| Total localisation cost | 2100.0000 |
| Additional purchases required | 300.0000 |
Use the artifact and preserve its assumptions
Open the editable calculator to change the inputs and inspect the sensitivity view. The CSV records synthetic inputs and expected outputs; the JSON fixture keeps the equations available for reproduction. These calculations have been checked against the stated example. No measured campaign data is included.
The sensitivity rows vary only contribution by 20% below and above the entered value. They are scenarios, not confidence limits or a forecast distribution. A row outside the model’s constraints is labelled rather than turned into a plausible-looking result. Save the chosen inputs with the decision so another reader can distinguish a changed assumption from a changed formula.
Evidence and limits
Google distinguishes served cost from billed cost after adjustments. Choose and document the cost basis used in this worksheet; its production, contribution and cash assumptions are our teaching examples, not provider benchmarks. See Manage your spend in Google Ads, especially “Access your billing and cost data; View costs from reports”.
The causal effect and contribution remain assumptions. Ongoing support and update costs are excluded unless entered; language coverage and local requirements need separate review.
