Chart Watch, August 2025: A Crowded Mobile Games Top Ten

Chart watch August 2025: the mobile games top ten stayed crowded and stable, with one new entrant and a UA implication for the quarter.

August's mobile games top ten stayed crowded rather than dramatic: no single title made a decisive move up or down the download or revenue charts this month, and the established names held their positions through the summer's usual seasonal patterns rather than any structural shift.

Downloads: puzzle holds, survival strategy stays sticky

The download leaderboard looked much like July's. Puzzle titles kept their usual grip on volume while survival and kingdom-builder games such as Whiteout Survival and Last War: Survival went on turning heavy ad spend into a steady download base rather than a single breakout spike. Monopoly GO! remained a fixture near the top of both charts, now well into its third year live, which says more about the durability of an established live-service loop than about anything that happened in August.

Revenue: a new entrant worth watching

The one addition worth flagging is Sega's Sonic Rumble, which launched globally around Gamescom week and used the franchise's visibility to support its early climb, though its exact chart position and revenue scale are not yet independently confirmed at time of writing. Beyond that entrant, the revenue top ten showed the kind of stability that suggests most publishers held steady through late summer rather than pushing new spend, a pattern consistent with the mid-year CPM dip UA Ledger has covered elsewhere.

One genre observation

Hybrid-casual titles again took a disproportionate share of both charts relative to how recently the category matured. That is not a monthly surprise; the trend has run through all of 2025. What stands out in August is less any single title's movement and more how little movement there was at all. Nothing reshuffled. Most of the summer's competitive energy went into production and testing rather than into launches that could have rearranged the leaderboard.

What August 2025's chart watch means for buyers

A quiet month on the charts is not a quiet month for planning: the stability visible in August's top ten is the baseline worth confirming now, before Q4's holiday volume and the CPM inflation that rides along with it make it much harder to tell whether a September launch is genuinely gaining ground or simply riding a rising tide that lifts every title's numbers at once.
