ATT prompt after a value moment, not at first launch

Checklist for App Tracking Transparency prompt timing after a value moment, from Apple’s privacy documentation.

Apple’s User Privacy and Data Use page states you may display the ATT prompt whenever you choose, but IDFA is only returned after the prompt and a grant; a purpose string is required; gating functionality on tracking consent is not allowed (Guideline 5.1.2(i) via that page). You may explain why you want permission before the system prompt if transparent. The API docs for requestTrackingAuthorization note the prompt runs only while the app is active, and is a one-time system choice (reinstall exception).

Operator checklist

  1. Pre-permission context after a value moment (tutorial complete, first reward).
  2. Not stacked behind other permission dialogs (active-state requirement).
  3. Purpose string describes tracking use accurately.
  4. No paywall / feature gate on Allow.
  5. Denied path: Measurement plan using SKAN/AdAttributionKit without IDFA.
  6. EU alternatives: If using expanded interface / additional information, follow the regional API docs.
  7. Re-check status on each launch; users can change Settings later.
